Commissions

I welcome commissions for original paintings and digital illustrations. A commissioned piece is created collaboratively: we begin with the subject, photographs or ideas you bring, and then consider colour, composition, mood, and the space in which the finished work will live.

Original Paintings

I work from photographs supplied by the client or develop original sketches as a starting point. Together, we discuss the aspects of the subject that matter most to you, along with your preferences for colour and other design elements.

Commissioned paintings are created in acrylic on stretched canvas in my characteristic expressive style, using loose, energetic brushwork and non-naturalistic colour. The aim is not simply to reproduce a photograph, but to create an original painting that captures something of the character, relationship, or experience behind it.

Pricing for acrylic paintings is calculated according to size at (length in inches + width in inches) × $10, with materials included.

16 × 20 in. — $360
18 × 24 in. — $420
24 × 24 in. — $480

Digital Illustrations

I also accept commissions for original digital illustrations. These can be developed from photographs, ideas, stories, or concepts and are particularly well suited to portraits, gifts, publications, educational materials, and spiritual or narrative subjects.

Digital illustration is billed at $50 per hour. Before beginning, we agree on the scope of the project and a budget for my time. You will receive the completed work as a digital file.

If you would like a physical copy, I can also arrange professional printing and advise you on suitable formats, materials, and printing costs.

Commissioning a Piece

If you have an idea for a painting or illustration, please contact me to tell me a little about what you have in mind. You do not need to have every detail worked out in advance. Part of the commissioning process is developing the idea together and finding the form, colour, and composition that will best suit both the subject and you.
